Plans and limits
Enscale plan pricing, monthly allowances, channel and seat limits, and what happens when you hit a cap.
Enscale has five plans. This page is the reference for what each one includes. For how charges are calculated and billed, see Billing and usage.

Annual billing charges 12 months upfront and gives you two months free — roughly 17% off.
Annual plans cannot carry usage charges
Shopify does not support usage-based charges on annual app subscriptions. If you need AI resolutions or overage billing, stay on monthly. This is a Shopify platform limitation, not an Enscale policy.
Channels is a combined count. Five channels means five connections total across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook in any mix — not five of each.
There is no contact limit on any plan. Contacts are never capped or charged for.
The four usage metrics
| Metric | What counts as one | Capped? |
|---|---|---|
| Conversation | One 24-hour messaging window with one contact on one channel. | Yes |
| Workflow run | One full workflow execution, trigger to final node. | Yes |
| Broadcast message | One outbound message to one recipient in a campaign. | Yes (Free only) |
| AI resolution | A conversation the AI solved and closed with no human handover. | No — metered |
Conversations
A conversation is a 24-hour window, not a message and not a thread.
- Customer messages on WhatsApp, you reply an hour later → 1 conversation.
- Same customer messages again 30 hours later → 2nd conversation.
- Same customer also messages on Instagram → that channel opens its own window.
Workflow runs
One run is one execution, regardless of how many nodes it contains. A twelve-step recovery sequence and a two-step notification both count as one.
Broadcast messages
Counted per recipient. A campaign sent to 5,000 contacts is 5,000 broadcast messages. Paid plans have no cap on this; the Free plan can't send broadcasts at all.
AI resolutions
Metered rather than capped — you're charged per resolution instead of running out. See AI usage and spend.
When your billing period resets
Usage allowances reset on the 1st of each calendar month, for every merchant.
This is intentionally not aligned with your Shopify subscription's rolling 30-day cycle. Your Shopify usage-charge cap resets on its own schedule. The two are separate ledgers, and they will not line up — if you install on the 20th, your first Enscale usage month is 11 days long.
Hitting a limit
Enscale warns you before anything stops.
| Usage level | What happens |
|---|---|
| 80% | Email and in-app warning. |
| 100% | Urgent notification and upgrade prompt. 72-hour grace period starts. Everything keeps running. |
| After 72 hours | The affected feature pauses. |
Two independent grace clocks
Conversations and workflow runs each have their own grace period, and they pause different things.
| Clock | Starts when | After 72 hours |
|---|---|---|
| Automation grace | Workflow run allowance is exhausted | Workflow runs and broadcast sending pause. |
| Conversation grace | Conversation allowance is exhausted | The inbox becomes reply-read-only. |
Exceeding one does not start the other's clock.
What never stops
Regardless of any limit:
- Viewing conversations and full message history
- Viewing contacts and segments
- Viewing usage and billing pages
- Upgrading your plan
Overage: opt in to keep running
Instead of pausing when you hit a cap, you can opt in to overage and be charged per unit past your allowance.
| Metric | Starter | Growth | Pro | Scale |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Per workflow run | $0.005 | $0.004 | $0.003 | $0.002 |
| Per conversation | $0.00199 | $0.00179 | $0.00149 | $0.00119 |
Workflow overage and conversation overage are separate switches — enable either, both, or neither in Settings → Billing. Both are off by default, so nothing is charged unless you turn it on.
Overage charges share one Shopify usage cap with your AI resolution charges. See Billing and usage.
Free trial
New installs get 7 days of Starter entitlements automatically — full workflow allowances, AI agents, broadcasts, the lot. No card required, and it starts on install.
When the trial ends, you drop to Free limits unless you've subscribed. Nothing is deleted; automations that exceed Free allowances simply stop running.
If your subscription lapses
If a Shopify subscription is cancelled, expires, or fails to renew, Enscale falls back to Free entitlements immediately rather than continuing to honour the old plan.
Your data is untouched. Resubscribing restores your previous limits.
Custom limits
Enscale support can raise an individual limit on your account without changing your plan — useful for a seasonal spike or a one-off migration. A custom limit overrides the plan default for that metric only. Contact support if you need one.
